“I appreciate everything you’ve done for me, but I’m going to take my life.”
That was the text I received from my brother while lifeguarding. The rest of that day is a blur as I’ve tried to blot it from my memory (read more about that day here).
I remember rushing into the house, running upstairs, and helping him down from the ladder. I remember looking directly into his eyes and seeing myself on that ladder if I didn’t change. I remember the decision I made that day to live in a way that I avoid the same fate.
I realized my oldest brother and I were eerily similar. The life I was living was almost identical to his: partying, womanizing, and having little care for my future.
I realized if I kept going, I would be on the other side of the ladder, with the noose around my neck. And what if no one was there to remove the rope and hold me?
Since that traumatizing day, I’ve been on a journey to lead a meaningful life. To live a life in a way that I can have the strength for two, as I did that day with my brother. To be heroic, as the ancients would describe it.
But how does one do that?
I never had a concept to help me think through this, making it challenging to actualize.
I began reading books and listening to podcasts, but sadly it was inefficient for my growth. I had to fall for false teachers and search hopelessly for answers, and even then, I was still without answers.
I wasted so much time trying to achieve a goal that isn’t worthy of my devotion.
But imagine if I could have been given a concept to visualize where I wanted to go and also a guide to help me get there. How much quicker would I have gotten to where I am?
That’s what the Human Operating System (HumanOS) is: A concept to help you visualize the growth you desire and a guide to help you slowly get there.
This concept has helped me realize where I needed to focus and better understand the reason I was the way I was. It gave me a destination worthy of my devotion: flourishing (and peace).
My ultimate desintation of peace and flourshing was only forged through endless hours of studying, self-reflecting, and actualizing the future I wanted.
This guide is designed to help you become more efficient and effective in your growth.
